The worldwide mobilization on fight against HIV/AIDS was not satisfying. The General Secretary of the United Nations revealed that the goal was not reached.
Vigilance should be doubled. The members of the Association « Sambatra izay salama » - (Healthy persons are Happy) - or SISAL raised the question yesterday by organizing a press conference at the Plazza Hôtel , in Analakely (Antananarivo).
Having participated in the AIDS world summit in 2006, that was held in New York from May 31 to June 2, the delegation members, lead by the president Me Maria Raharinarivonirina, recognize the insufficiency of coordination and cohesion as far as fight against AIDS is econcerned.
In Madagascar, the number of HIV holder has doubled within these two last years. « If 29 000 persons were identified to be infected in 2003, 49 000 seropositive ones were registered in 2005 », 7 000 of them need urgent care, confirmed Mrs. Maria Raharinarivonirina.
At the world level, the situation does not encourage us to be optimistic since the UN report presented during this 2006 world summit demonstrated that the 2001 targeted objectives were not fully reached.
At that time, 189 governments recognized the specific role that every actor in the civil society should take in this fight against AIDS.

Inevitable Partnership

Like all Malagasy Civil Society Organization, from now on SISAL is going to watch for the accomplishment of the engagements taken in this long-term fight.
The president argues that « It’s time to implement solid provision to optimize every one access to prevention, care and accompanying measures. It’s the only way to reach the millennium objectives ».
« Our association plans, anyway, to strengthen our partnership with the Comité national de lutte contre le sida (CNLS), the United Nations Organizations and every actors in the civil Society to reach these objectives», she added, as she is really willing to overcome this lack of cohesion.
Different persons involved in this action were present to listen to this delegation and they all got the appeal issued by the SISAL Association for a nationally wide awareness.
